BECCA – Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed | Pearl Review & Swatch

Shade: Pearl

Becca highlighters have had amazing reviews and have been recommended by many – so I chose to try the popular pearl shade in the ‘pressed’ (powder) formula.  The highlighters are available in 3 formulas: pressed (powder), poured (cream), and liquid.

The highlighters comes in a sleek matte finished compact with an aluminum finish in the center – which I thought added a nice element aesthetically. The product is a kind of oddly shaped so I found a little difficulty with opening it smoothly but it was not a huge struggle. The closure clicks when closed and does not open easily so this highlighter is fairly travel friendly. Overall, I like the packaging both look and feel wise and have not had any major issue with it yet – also the mirror is a good size.

The shimmering skin perfector pressed is a powder highlighter that still feals creamy because it was formulated with liquid to bind the powders together. This gives the highlighter a smooth application which is important because a ‘unsmooth’ application would stand out and not look good. I found that the shimmer/glitter particles were a good size and nothing too ‘unnatural’ but will not make you a disco ball. However, with that said I would say that this highlighter (especially the Pearl shade) is more of a stronger highlighted looked – much like the glam looks you find on instagram. It looks amazing for a heavy look however I would recommend either a different shade or brand if you are more into a subtle highlight. As for longevity I found that it definitely faded throughout the day – comparatively faster than other highlighters but it still look decent. Finally, I wanted to mention that though the Pearl shade looks very white in the pan, it does not look chalky or too white on my yellow toned skin. But if you still do not like the white tone they also have a gold or champagne tone available which would give you a warmer glow to the skin. Overall, I liked this highlighter a lot especially for photos or heavier makeup days it gives my skin that picturesque glow.
